A young man fighting for a normal life …
In so many ways, Christopher Anderson is an ordinary five-year-old. He’s bubbly, full of energy, and he loves to play with his friends and his twin sister Jessica at home in Thornton, near Blackpool.
However, Christopher isn’t like most other little boys. Born with spina bifida, he has had to adapt to a more difficult set of circumstances than many of us can imagine. Click here to find out why his condition has such far-reaching consequences.
Christopher’s spina bifida means that, unlike other kids his age, he can’t run about freely. In fact, his mobility is severely impaired and he needs a wheelchair or walking frame to get around most of the time. Climbing, walking, running, sitting on the rocking horse he wanted so much for Christmas… kids take these things for granted, but Christopher has to work so hard just to get across the room.
But is that going to stop him? No way! Christopher is a determined young man and he’s making the most of life. Using a wheelchair, he can nip around the house, chase his friends, and get away from them – joining in the fun just like any other youngster. It’s great for his confidence and gives him the independence that is so important.
Christopher’s parents, Christine and Peter, have seen their son struggle so bravely against the odds. Every parent wants the best for their child, and the Andersons are no exception. They’ve spent every penny they have to carry out extensive home alterations, so they can look after their son and give him the future he deserves.
